Use Common Ground to Get to Higher Ground
Discuss shared concerns to move the conversation to a better place.
When you feel under attack you may have the urge to focus on why you are right and how the other person is wrong. When both people have their defenses up, a safe place to seek is common ground. Common ground is composed of shared interests, goals, needs, desires and motivations the two of you share.

“I was delighted with the content and the way you moderated - the group have had their eyes opened to tools and thinking that can change outcomes and position them as thought leaders within our company. In my eyes, all of my objectives were achieved.” |
