Tip: Go For Continuous Improvement

View your communication as a system to continually improve

You get disappointed when you do not receive the response you were hoping for. This is especially true for communication with high stakes. Try the following in this case. Reframe the response you get from others as feedback rather than failure. Rather than feeling like you failed, interpret what happened as data to enhance your communication processes.

Treating dialogue as a feedback mechanism can reduce your anxiety and frustration. Approaching communication responses as objective data to be analyzed prevents blaming of the other person or yourself. You see discussions as a vehicle for continuous improvement. Like an organization that constantly seeks to innovate and enhance quality, utilize your communication as a system to be continually improved.
