Experience

Jasper Kim is a Consultant with Accordence and a Department Chair and Associate Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies, Ewha Womans University, and Adjunct Faculty for the Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University, School of Law.  He is also an invited faculty member for the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea.

For the Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution (ranked the top dispute resolution program by U.S. News & World Report), Mr. Kim teaches its core required Negotiation Theory and Practice course for both working professionals and law students. For Ewha, he served as the Committee Chair for its International Negotiation Workshop (based in cooperation with CMI) and teaches negotiation courses for participants from the Asia-Pacific region, South America, the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.  Mr. Kim also advises on cross-cultural, linguistic, and legal negotiation issues.

Prior to joining Ewha, he worked for the global investment banks of Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital. As an in-house legal counsel for Lehman Brothers, Mr. Kim oversaw the fixed income division’s derivatives and loan trading desks on the trading floor, negotiating and dealing with clients in Asia and beyond. As an Associate Director for Barclays Capital, he was part of the firm’s structured trading desk for the Firm’s investment banking division.

Mr. Kim has authored several books, and has published in numerous peer-review academic journals. He has also been featured and cited in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Bloomberg News, and is a commentator for BBC Worldwide TV. His most recent book is Korean Business Law: The Legal Landscape and Beyond and Mini Messaging: The Art of Smart Texting.

Mr. Kim is a member of both the District of Columbia, Court of Appeals as well as the State Bar of New Jersey. He currently resides in Korea.
