Accordence Publishes New E-Book: “Tear Down the Wall: Be Your Own Mediator In Conflict”

Navigate through Any Type of Conflict with Ease and Confidence

A New Book Brings the Wisdom and Benefits of Professional Mediation to Everyday Situations

Burlingame, CA  (September 10, 2013) — What if you could heal a seemingly intractable rift with a coworker that's been eroding your workplace productivity? Or what if you never had to face another unreceptive audience, but could masterfully communicate your message and motivate people to take an action, such as signing up for your services? We all have communication barriers in our lives that are caused by conflict, misunderstandings, out-of-control emotions, or sometimes just poor listening skills. In his new book, negotiation expert Grande Lum offers 87 master techniques for mediating conflict—with a friend or spouse, neighbor or employee. These tools and tips are based on numerous mediations he's conducted over two decades as a skilled conflict mediator. Tear Down the Wall:  Be Your Own Mediator in Conflict is the first book on conflict mediation that provides specific, useful advice enabling readers to acquire the same skills and tools that professional mediators possess.

Tear Down the Wall makes conflict resolution accessible to everyone in 87 pithy essays, each with a core lesson or secret to impart. Some examples:

  • See everyday conflicts as cross-cultural.

  • Separate the position from the person.

  • Use demands as clues.

  • Create a comfort zone for the other person.

  • Imagine a video camera is only capturing you.

  • Ask your adversary to be your mentor.

This book enables anyone to transform adversaries into allies. It's an invaluable resource for salespeople, managers, customer service people, social workers, attorneys, and anyone else who could benefit from better communication and relationship problem-solving skills. Tear Down the Wall is available in KindleNook and iPad/ iPhone editions.
